The author of the exhibition, Pablo Antonio Díaz, inaugurated this Tuesday afternoon the exhibition Naval Museum on the occasion of the festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and installed in the old karaoke of Puerto de Naos.

Upon arrival, visitors can observe a series of models of different ships related to what was the emporium of fishing in Lanzarote and others that have been part of naval history at a national and international level. The exhibition also consists of photographs and documents with information.

Díaz, from a very early age, had to combine his work in the family blacksmith shop with naval repairs. There was plenty of work in the sector thanks to the fishing naval fleet of Lanzarote, which, after a few years, would soon diminish due to the hasty departure of the numerous canning factories that had settled on the island. For this reason, he was forced to return to his work in the blacksmith shop and continue with the work there.

However, in his soul he always carried the passion of the marine world that, after a while, he would express with dedication and enthusiasm in his naval models, which are the fruits of his patience and free time. In his numerous creations, visitors can find a great variety of ships with considerable importance for the subsistence and progress of his island, Lanzarote. Also noteworthy within his immense collection is the creation of ships, which were essential and vital worldwide.

All the works have acquired a particular name, where the author, with affection and care, has baptized them with the names of family and friends, making that gesture a memory of a great friendship. Little by little they come to life in a family place located in Puerto de Naos, where for more than 40 years he has been working as a blacksmith. It is his own hands that, with skill and mastery, give shape to these models built from just a block of raw wood. After years of valuable craftsmanship, this miniature naval fleet is presented as one of the most extensive in the Canary Islands.

The exhibition can be visited from Wednesday to Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The exhibition will be open to the public until this Sunday the 21st.
