The forty members of the Joven Orquesta de Canarias (JOCAN) who are participating this year in the traditional summer tour will perform in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
On Sunday the 21st, at 7:00 p.m., the young performers will offer a symphonic concert at the Convent of Santo Domingo de Teguise, and on the 22nd, at 5:00 p.m., they will do so at the Socio-Cultural Center of La Graciosa, with a chamber repertoire. These will be the second and third stops of their summer tour of the eight islands.
The public of Lanzarote will be able to listen to Symphony No. 40 in G minor, the most famous of Mozart's, a masterpiece of all time; and the concerto for violin and piano by F. Mendelssohn, a piece that was written by the composer when he was barely 14 years old. For this second work, the JOCAN will have the exceptional participation of two established soloists who will make these concerts even more attractive: the pianist Noelia Rodiles, considered "one of the most solid values of Spanish and international pianism", and the Latvian violinist Paula Šūmane, awarded with more than 15 international awards. Tickets for this performance are already sold out.
For its part, in La Graciosa you can enjoy a free concert in chamber format, with a repertoire consisting of the string quintet in homage to Mozart by Juan Durán; Beethoven's Septimino, one of the composer's most beloved; and Gounod's Symphony for wind instruments. This performance is free, reserving an invitation in advance through ecoentradas.com.
The JOCAN will begin this Friday the 19th its summer tour Around the world in eight measures, in which they offer nine concerts on the eight islands. A tour that they carry out, as usual, after several days of concentration and coexistence for their preparations. For a week, the young musicians meet to rehearse these programs, both by sections and together with the teacher and the soloists. On this occasion, the island of this meeting is Fuerteventura, where the orchestra is already putting the finishing touches on the concerts of this tour that begins on Friday the 19th in Fuerteventura and will conclude on July 29 in El Hierro.
As always, these rehearsals have an exquisite staff of teachers, which in this edition includes musicians from Il Giardino Armónico, one of the most recognized historicist groups in the world, specifically the violinist Mauro Rossi and the cellist Marcello Scandell. There are also the solo flutist of the National Orchestra of Spain, Álvaro Octavio Díaz, and the horn soloist of the Symphony Orchestra of Galicia, Nicolas Gómez Naval.
