The Cabildo of Lanzarote held this Tuesday, October 3, the reopening ceremony of the Insular Chess Center. The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, and the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, attended this event held at the Center's headquarters, which was also attended by the presidents of the Canary Islands Chess Federation, Juan Alexis Alonso Valiente; of the La Caja de Canarias Foundation, Manuel Sánchez Álvarez, and of the Insular Chess Delegation, José Carmelo Pérez Cejudo, among others.
Oswaldo Betancort expressed his "satisfaction" for having managed to restart the nerve center of chess in Lanzarote and thanked the "work" carried out by the Cabildo, the La Caja de Canarias Foundation and the various federations and people who have made it possible for lovers of this sport to enjoy these facilities.
The Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, celebrated that, after the renewal of the agreement with the La Caja de Canarias Foundation and the reform and modernization of the facilities, it has been possible to "reopen the Center and satisfy the demands of the representatives" of this activity that "has many followers on the Island".
The Insular Chess Center will once again host classes, competitions, courses and other initiatives related to this sports modality. The Cabildo reminds that it is located at Calle México, 16, in Arrecife.
