The Lanzarote Literature Festival continues with the presence of Sergio del Molino this Thursday in Puerto del Carmen and Mónica Ojeda next Wednesday. There will also be several literary conferences on the importance of water. In addition, the 2913 Photography and Visual Arts Festival kicks off, which will fill Arrecife with exhibitions, conferences, and workshops with artists.In the cinema section, there are several proposals, including a new screening of Modern Times, as well as a workshop to learn the keys to animation. Yaiza also proposes a new dance and music festival spread between Friday and Saturday. There is also a theatrical proposal and a comedy show with Álex Clavero.Among the other musical proposals, the performance of fado singer Ana Margarida Prado and the Teguey Folk Group also stand out. The EMEC Festival also returns this weekend and a tribute concert to Dire Straits will be held.

CINEMA

 

  • That Thing with Wings. Buñuel Cinema

The Buñuel Cinema at El Almacén presents the film That Thing with Feathers, by British director Dylan Southern. A moving adaptation of Max Porter's acclaimed novella Grief Is the Thing with Feathers. The film explores the boundaries of hope and fear through the story of a family facing an invisible force capable of transforming their reality.

  • Short Films by Maya Deren. Modern Times Festival 

The Modern Times Festival continues, where music merges with cinema. On this occasion, pianist and composer Hara Alonso will accompany the short films of filmmaker Maya Deren, also a dancer and journalist who, in the 1940s, placed the body and gesture at the center of a cinema that transforms time and space through editing and camera.

When: Saturday, November 8 at 8:00 PM.

Where: Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, Arrecife.

  • Animation and Character Design Workshop

Discover the fundamentals of animation through movement analysis. A unique experience with Carlos Miranda and Pepe Mansuy, two animated drawing professionals who are coming to Lanzarote with Arrecife en Vivo (AEV) Training.

 With live drawing sessions and demonstrations, you will learn the methodology that professionals use to design characters and bring inanimate objects to life.

When: Thursday, November 6, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

  • World Rhythms. Dance Festival.

The "World Rhythms" initiative is offering a dance festival on November 7th in Playa Blanca's Plaza del Carmen starting at 5:00 PM. The participating dance companies are Argentina Fusión; Bollywood Fusión; Arab Dance Cultural Association; Aires del Sur de España; Misterio de China; Imara África Acrobats; Danza Hayati from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine; Tangaroa from Polynesia; Caribe Ron; and Danza Canaria.

LITERATURE

 

  • Sergio del Molino. Lanzarote Literature Festival

The Lanzarote Literature Festival presents writer Sergio del Molino this Thursday. The author of La España vacía will discuss how literature helps to think about the country from the perspective of depopulation, margins, and oblivion. In Lanzarote, he will give a talk, moderated by the Festival's director Carlos Battaglini, on memory, landscape, and the power of literature as an emotional map of a territory.

  • Water in the Mirror of Literature

Within the conference program on the theme of water, Eloy Martos, professor of Language and Literature, will offer a tour of the presence of water in universal literature, from ancient myths to current ecological discourses.

  • The words of water: a story against forgetting

Within the conference program on the theme of water, the writer from Teseguite, Mare Cabrera, will speak about the capacity of the Lanzarote farmer to create an engineering system around this precious resource.

Understanding the need for it, the walls, the stone channels, the earthen balconies, the cisterns at every turn, the ravine with open wounds, all make sense. You imagine the water running, filling the cisterns and small ponds

  •  Mónica Ojeda. Lanzarote Literature Festival

Writing from the Edge: Body and Transgression in Literature is the title of the talk that the writer Monica Ojeda will offer in Lanzarote. Ojeda, with a poetic and fierce style, explores fear, adolescence, the feminine, and the monstrous. In Lanzarote, she will give a talk, moderated by Festival director Carlos Battaglini, on the limits of language and literature as an exploration of the unsettling and the corporeal.

When: Wednesday, November 12 at 7:30 PM.

  • The Room

The Bambalinas association presents "The Room" at the Municipal Theater of San Bartolomé, a disturbing gothic suspense story inspired by the literary universe of Edgar Allan Poe.

COMEDY

 

  • Álex Clavero

Álex Clavero presents his latest comedy show, in which he compiles the best monologues of his career. According to him, Clavero aims to leave you aching with laughter, thinking that life is worth living.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND VISUAL ARTS

 

  • Veintinueve Trece 2025

The Veintinueve Trece photography and visual arts festival presents a new edition with a complete program of activities related to photography and audiovisual production as vehicles of expression.

The festival includes workshops, conferences, exhibitions, and even a photography party.

EXHIBITIONS 

 

  • A black light

Una Luz Negra brings together the work that the Tenerife artist Marco Alom has developed in recent years. In the exhibition, the artist reflects on the space he inhabits and his surroundings, making drawing and the search for new forms in this medium a territory for experimentation.

  • Ana Margarida Prado

One of the most prominent voices of the new generation of fado arrives in Lanzarote with the Canary Islands Fado Festival. With a unique style and influences from great references, the artist offers us the best of the emotion and tradition of Portuguese fado.

  • World Rhythms. Music Festival

The initiative "Ritmos del mundo" (Rhythms of the World) offers a music festival on November 8th in Plaza del Carmen, Playa Blanca, starting at 5:00 PM. The participating music groups are Jessica and the Canary band, The Lonestar Riders, Clave Caribe, Mariachi Tierra de Fuego, Irish Band, Flamenco en Vivo, Maritza, and Delorean.

  • Teguey Folk Group

The folk group Teguey, which will offer a concert in La Villa with pieces of Lanzarote's folklore, also dares to compose new songs that speak of the island's feelings.

Nine musicians on stage, endorsed by Oscar Rosende, a guitarist from A Coruña, will perform the best Dire Straits songs. And they will do so with enormous quality, so much so that the Dire Straits keyboardist himself, upon hearing them play, believed it was a recording of the Scottish band.
