The week between Thursday, June 11 and Wednesday, June 18 is packed with cultural events: the Tititiritías performing arts festival and the first weekend of the Lava Live festival with established artists such as Hombres G, Leiva, Ivan Ferreiro, Molotov, and La Cabra Mecánica.

Two auteur films will also be screened, two literary talks will be held, an exhibition on Clavijo and Fajardo, and concerts by Trío de Raíz, Bio Ritmos, Yosan Pereda, and the Encuentro de Música Popular El Pavón.

 

CINEMA

 

  • Father Mother Sister Brother. Cine Buñuel

Cine Buñuel at El Almacén presents Father Mother Sister Brother, the latest feature film by acclaimed director Jim Jarmusch, one of the most representative figures of independent American cinema. The film, a dramatic comedy, is structured as a triptych of stories centered on the complex universe of family relationships. The film won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the last Venice Film Festival.

  • Un amor. Cine Buñuel

As part of the Verbena literature event, the film Un amor, by Isabel Coixet, is screened. It is a bitter and desperate story about the fear of loneliness and the unhealthy search for love as a refuge. The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by writer Sara Mesa.

When: Wednesday, June 10 at 8:00 PM.

LITERATURE

 

  • Kenya Stéphanie. Verbena

In this talk, Kenya Stéphanie will share her creative process for Niña efímera, how she self-published her book, the complications, and the poetic construction of the project. She will also show everything that came after: promotion on social media, sales, and the book's impact, as well as the controversies and how the project has evolved to the present day.

  • Tatiana Donoso and Juli Mesa. Verbena

Both Tatiana Donoso and Juli Mesa will delve into an exploration of what emerges when we simply decide to listen. A journey into writing and voices as an exercise in literary composition through the work of others.

EXHIBITIONS

 

  • José Clavijo y Fajardo. Pluralidad Intelectual

The exhibition “José Clavijo y Fajardo. 300 years of illustration from the Canary Islands” opens this Friday in Haría. It includes a round table with Mariano de León Reyes, Professor of Geography and History, Mario Ferrer Peñate, Professor of Audiovisual Communication; Ángeles García Hernández, Law graduate; Manuel Ortiz Porteros, Professor of Dramatization; Carmen Morales Rodríguez, Doctor of Political Science; Juan Manuel González Guerra, Professor of Biology; and Mario Pérez Hernández, President of the Clavijo y Fajardo Foundation.

When: Opening June 12 at 7:00 PM and until June 22.

Where: Plaza de la Constitución in Haría.

Free admission.

 

PERFORMING ARTS

 

  • TitiriTías

The municipality of Tías hosts a new edition of the TitiriTías Performing Arts Festival, a cultural celebration that brings life to Plaza El Pavón and the Municipal Theater.

 For three days, the town becomes a grand stage where art, values, and social commitment converge. More than just a festival, TitiriTías is a community and popular gathering that promotes citizen participation and collective enjoyment through theater, music, and performing arts.

  • Lava Live Fest. First Day

On Friday, June 12, the Lava Live Fest kicks off with a proposal of a strong rock and indie character, featuring big names in the genre such as Leiva, Iván Ferreiro, and Molotov, accompanied by local talent Los Callaos and DJ Tali Arenao.

When: Friday, June 12, starting at 5:00 PM. 

Where: Lava Live Stadium, next to the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

  • Lava Live Fest. Second Day

The second day of the Lava Live festival features Hombres G, Ke Personajes, La Cabra Mecánica, La Tom Son, and DJ Nandy Paredes.

When: Saturday, June 13, starting at 5:00 PM. 

Where: Lava Live Stadium, next to the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

Ticket from 55 euros. 

 

  • Trío de Raíz

Trío de Raíz, composed of timple player Alberto González, flutist Gabriel Rodríguez, and flamenco guitarist Manuel Cerpa, premieres an artistic project that unites Canarian tradition with influences from flamenco, jazz, and other world music.

When: Thursday, June 11, at 7:30 PM. 

Where: Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, Arrecife.

  • Bio Ritmos

The Amphitheater of Las Cucharas Beach in Costa Teguise hosts Bio Ritmos, with the bands Entre Ilhas (Macaronesia–Canary Islands), Mosquera Celtic Band (Galicia), Compañía Pieles (Tenerife) and Too Brass Band from Teguise (Lanzarote).

When: Friday, June 12 at 9:00 PM. 

Where: Amphitheater of Las Cucharas Beach.

  • Yosán Pereda

The Cuban singer, songwriter, and producer Yosán Pereda, based in Lanzarote, offers a concert where he will mix salsa, ballad, and tropical fusion with modern influences.

When: Thursday, June 11 at 7:30 PM. 

Where: Municipal Theater of Tías.

Admission €15. 

 

  • El Pavón Popular Music Meeting

The El Pavón Musical Group celebrates its annual Popular Music Meeting at the Ulpiano Rodríguez Wrestling Ground as part of the San Antonio festivities program.

The evening will feature soloists Samuel Fumero and Lourdes Pérez, from Tenerife, while the master of ceremonies will be Alexis Hernández.

When: Saturday, June 13 at 8:30 PM.
