The Teguise City Council has presented the programs for the Festivities in Honor of Our Lady of Carmen of La Villa de Teguise and La Graciosa 2026, two of the most important and deeply rooted celebrations in the municipality, which will once again fill both towns with tradition, popular culture, coexistence, and devotion during the month of July.
Organized by the Teguise City Council, the festival commissions, and the parishes of both towns, the celebrations will take place between July 2 and July 16 in La Villa de Teguise and from July 12 to July 28 in La Graciosa, with a wide program of cultural, sports, popular, and religious activities aimed at all audiences.
Considered among the most deeply rooted festivals in the municipality, the Carmen celebrations once again combine religious devotion with intense cultural and popular activity, reinforcing year after year the sense of belonging of those who experience and participate in them.
The program for La Villa de Teguise will begin with the opening speech by Doña Catalina Rosario Díaz Herrera and will feature recitals, cultural gatherings, musical performances, children's activities, sports events, and traditional acts that will culminate on July 16 with the Solemn Religious Service and the procession of the image of Our Lady of Carmen through the streets of the Historic Site, accompanied by the Teguise Municipal Band Teguiband.
This year's edition will also feature a graphic image created by the designer from La Palma, Mario Martín Remedios, whose posters take inspiration from the traditional scapulars of the Virgen del Carmen, integrating within them the images of the patron saints of La Villa de Teguise and La Graciosa along with representative elements of the history, heritage, and identity of both towns.
For its part, La Graciosa will once again experience festivities closely linked to the sea and devotion to Our Lady of Carmen. The program will combine tradition, culture, sport, and leisure for all ages, with the central event being the traditional maritime procession and the floral offering in memory of those who died at sea, one of the most representative and emotional scenes of the festivals of the eighth island.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted that “the Fiestas del Carmen are part of the history and identity of our municipality and are once again an opportunity to reconnect with our traditions, share with family and friends, and continue transmitting to new generations the pride in our roots.”
For his part, the councilor for Culture and Festivities, Andoni Machín, pointed out that “we have worked together with the festival committees, the parishes, and the residents to offer a program designed for all audiences, always maintaining the prominence of the traditions that make El Carmen one of the most important celebrations in our municipality.”
From the Teguise City Council, residents and visitors are invited to participate and enjoy celebrations that every summer bring together entire generations around tradition, popular culture, and devotion to Our Lady of Carmen, keeping alive one of the most important festive and religious legacies of the municipality.
