The Teguise City Council has launched an offer of guided tours of the historic center of the Villa de Teguise. These are two routes that will show visitors the historical points of interest of the town. This tourist and cultural proposal will start this Sunday in the Villa de Teguise, with two guided tours every Wednesday and Sunday of the months of March, April, May and June.
"The architectural physiognomy of Teguise is from another century, it looks like a city anchored in the 18th and 19th centuries, when it ceded the island capital to Arrecife (1852) and lost the peak of power of previous centuries. This deep economic crisis meant that the constructive paralysis was widespread, preserving to this day one of the most picturesque and best preserved historic centers of the Canary archipelago. Walking through its streets full of history, knowing its houses and historical figures is a review of the history of Lanzarote", explain from the City Council, pointing out that this is the "philosophy" that has governed the launch of this cultural initiative.
"Historic Teguise" will be the guided and interpreted route through the historic center of Teguise whose route, they explain, runs through its most picturesque alleys, while enjoying its architecture "on a journey through time and the history of its people and the island in general". On the other hand, "Teguise and its surroundings" will be the guided and interpreted route from the heart of Teguise to discover its alleys, architecture and surroundings, but also the lime kilns, the Jable and the Ermita de San Rafael.
Both routes are of "low difficulty" and will depart from the Casa-Museo del Timple at 10:00 a.m., will last an hour and a half, and a maximum of 40 participants, who must wear comfortable shoes for walking and a coat.
The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, presented this initiative together with the head of the Commerce area, Mari Paz Cabrera, as well as the Official Chronicler of Teguise, Francisco Delgado, and the biologist and environmental educator, Nacho Romero, from Senderismo Lanzarote, who will be in charge of guiding visitors through this historical, natural and heritage walk.
In addition, the Teguise City Council presented to the guests and those involved in the island's tourism sector the online tool through which the visit can be booked in two languages, to choose between English and Spanish, and which is already available at the following link: http://www.teguise.es/visitas-guiadas/
