To mark the 10th Anniversary of the musical project Timples y otras pequeñas guitarra del mundo (Timples and other small guitars of the world), the Casa-Museo del Timple in Teguise hosted this very special concert last Friday night, a musical project that has toured the eight islands of the Canary archipelago and that on this occasion, returned to its "home" to celebrate a decade of history and culture around the most emblematic instrument of island folklore.

The show was born from the inspiration and talent of four great performers of the Canarian timple: Germán López and Yoni Rodríguez (Gran Canaria), Beselch Rodríguez (Tenerife) and Altahy Páez (Fuerteventura), accompanied by the bassist Leandro Ojeda (Gran Canaria), all of them musicians of recognized prestige both inside and outside the archipelago. For this important event, the group also included the participation of the great singer Jonathan Campos (Gran Canaria), whose powerful voice and interpretative sensibility brought a new dimension to the repertoire.

Timples and other small guitars of the world was more than a concert; it was a sonic journey through the timple's sister instruments scattered across the planet, such as the Venezuelan Cuatro, the Andean Charango, the Portuguese Cavaquiño, and the Hawaiian Ukulele. Through original compositions and versions of universal pieces, the musicians paid tribute to their teachers "José Antonio Ramos, Domingo Rodríguez "El Colorao," and Benito Cabrera, reviving some of their most emblematic works with respect and emotion.

From the first chords, the audience that filled the hall completely surrendered to the proposal. Each song performed was received with warm applause, in a perfect communion between artists and spectators. The technical and expressive mastery of the performers shone from beginning to end, making it clear why this project has garnered applause on stages as diverse as the Forde Traditional and World Music Festival (Norway), as well as in multiple cities of the peninsula.

As a final flourish to this unforgettable night, the audience gave the musicians a standing ovation, enthusiastically demanding that the concert not end yet. The artists responded with two encores, bringing to an emotional close an evening that will remain in the collective memory of Teguise.

The Culture and Festivities Councilor of the Teguise City Council, Andoni Machín, together with the Personnel Councilor, Myriam Jorge, presented the commemorative poster of the concert to the musicians, a symbolic gesture that brought a magical night to an end. A celebration worthy of the history and legacy of the Canarian timple.
