The teachers and students of the Conservatory and the School of Music offered the first "Charity Concert", in favor of the Food Bank of Lanzarote, on the occasion of the day of its patron saint, Santa Cecilia. The event took place at the Insular Theater last Friday, November 22.
The director of the Conservatory, Natalia Paz, was the first to take the stage to present the concert while thanking the teachers, students and public present for their collaboration. As Natalia Paz related, this solidarity event began on Thursday the 21st with the delivery of the first non-perishable foods at the Conservatory facilities to continue with it until the day of the concert.
The food was being deposited in the hall of the Theater, where the delegate of the Food Bank in Lanzarote, José Luís Trujillo, was in charge of a team of volunteers. Manuel Pérez Hernández, president of the Food Bank of the province of Las Palmas, also traveled from Gran Canaria, who shared the entire development of the concert with Natalia Paz.
Teachers and students gave the best of their work on such a special day, taking great care of the musical part as well as the staging. Pieces such as the "Toy Symphony" or the instrumentals for two pianos such as "Cielito Lindo or Santa Lucía", gave way to the "Suite From King Arthur by Purcell or the Suite Of old American Dances by Russell" The first part of the concert ended with the Conservatory and School of Music Band conducted by Salvador Santana who masterfully performed the composition "Tritsch-Tratsch Polka by J. Strauss".
The vocal group Pentawoman, which also joined this solidarity cause, filled the second part with a select repertoire. For this occasion, it had the collaboration of some musician friends from the Conservatory who participated in songs such as Un Beso y una Flor and Dancing Queen.
Without a doubt, once again the seven women of Pentawoman left the public speechless with their careful voices and a very studied staging, thus reaching the end of a day where music also contributed its valuable collaboration to a cause such as helping the most needy families.
