Last Wednesday, the residents of the town of Tahíche honored their patron saint Santa Ana on her big day. At 6:30 p.m. the celebration of the Eucharist began, presided over by Juan Manuel Molina, parish priest of Teguise, assisted by the Lanzarote seminarian Daniel Romero, and with the songs for the celebration, which were enlivened by the Parish Choir directed by Fina de León.
The festivity was dedicated to grandfathers and grandmothers, in which the parish priest highlighted the important role they have always played within the family and especially in these times in which they act as babysitters so that their children can continue working and even contributing within their possibilities in the part of the family economy.
Once the Eucharist was finished, the procession was launched, presided over by the image of Santa Ana followed by Santiago Apóstol, the patrons of Tahíche toured the streets of the town on the shoulders of the residents who took turns during the journey until they reached the hermitage again where the members of the Guanapay Folklore Group of Teguise were waiting to offer their offering with the most traditional songs and dances. Starting with Seguidillas and continuing with Sorondongo, to finish with Isas. A performance that was highly applauded by the public.
Immediately afterwards, the images of Santa Ana and Santiago Apóstol were placed on the Main Altar and the neighbors were invited by the Festival Committee to taste a variety of homemade pastries and soft drinks, thus ending the festivity of their Patron Saints.
