Last Saturday afternoon, the auditorium of the Cueva de Los Verdes hosted the Interchange Concert, between students from El Salvador and those from the CIEM of Lanzarote.
The simple but very endearing act began with the interpretation of the anthem of El Salvador with the musical chords of the piano by the Salvadoran professor Cynthia Coscio and the trumpet by the director of the CIEM, Iván Curbelo and sung by the four young Salvadorans: Camila Margarita Urquilla, Angelo Marcello Deus, Brayan Ernesto Méndez and Luis René Arreaga.
At the end, the more than 250 spectators responded with a warm and prolonged applause. The concert then began with the participation of piano soloists and chamber music. The public was able to enjoy a varied and exquisite repertoire including works by Frédéric Chopin, Claude Debussy and Franz Schubert and other great composers that were interpreted by young talents and renowned professors.
Each of the young people performed a musical composition solo. At the end, the four young people who came from El Salvador were given a certificate of attendance, signed by the Culture Councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jesús Machín Tavío and the director of the CIEM, Iván Curbelo.
Next, the Chamber Music Quintet performed Op. 87 by the composer Johann Nepomuk Hummel. The concert ended with the masterful performance of Piano for four Hands, by professors Cynthia Coscio from El Salvador and Maribel Diport from CIEM performing Libertango by Astor Piazzolla and Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Johannes Brahms.
Assessment of the XXII of Music
For the CIEM Directorate and Professor Cynthia Coscio, representative of the Salvadoran expedition, the experience has been very positive for both parties. In addition, they have given a very high mark to the coexistence and learning between students and teachers, especially for the expedition from El Salvador, since it will be an experience they will not forget after these days in Lanzarote.
Among them, they were able to enjoy the most representative places on the island, the cultural exchange carried out and, above all, the concert in the Auditorium of the Cueva de Los Verdes. The Salvadoran students were pleasantly surprised to be able to perform in the volcanic tube, something unthinkable for them, remembering with great affection the welcome by the students and professors of the CIEM.
