This week, the municipality of San Bartolomé becomes the epicenter of cinema on the island with two cultural proposals organized by Tenique Cultural: one aimed at children, and another designed for the entire community. La Pantalla Chinija will arrive this Saturday, July 27, at the Playa Honda Civic Center, while the Traveling Summer Cinema will transform the wrestling field (behind the civic center) into a large outdoor room on Thursday, July 24 and Friday, July 25.
The first event will be with the Traveling Summer Cinema, which will offer two very special evening sessions. On Thursday, July 24, the acclaimed Japanese animated film Spirited Away (Hayao Miyazaki, 2001) will be screened, a visually dazzling fable about growth, identity, and imagination. The next day, Friday, July 25, it will be the turn of Karate Kid (John G. Avildsen, 1984), an unforgettable classic about discipline, friendship, and self-confidence.
Both performances will begin at 9:00 p.m., with free admission and popcorn distribution. In addition, to facilitate access for citizens, free buses will be available from the capital to Playa Honda, an initiative made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Culture, Seniors, and Education areas of the Arrecife City Council.
Closing the week, on Saturday the 26th at 12:00 p.m., the Playa Honda Civic Center hosts a new installment of La Pantalla Chinija, a morning cycle designed for girls and boys from 3 years old. On this occasion, the film Friends Forever will be screened, a tender story about the value of empathy and diversity. After the screening, the cultural mediator Vicki Dos Santos will lead a participatory activity where girls and boys can share ideas, emotions, and games related to the story. Also with free admission until full capacity.
Both events are part of a cultural program promoted by Tenique Cultural with the collaboration of the Youth Area and the Culture Area of the San Bartolomé City Council, the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and the island's city councils. The project seeks to bring cinema to all corners of the island, generate meeting spaces, and nurture the collective imagination from childhood to adulthood.
