The Municipal Theater of San Bartolomé hosted this Sunday the Gala of Presentation of the Carnival 2026, an event that marked the official start of a festival that this year is celebrated under the allegory of Ancient Egypt. The event featured performances by Murga Las Revoltosas and Batucada Guaychara, who brought to the stage all the humor, energy, and rhythm that characterize the municipality's Carnival.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted during the event that “Carnival is one of the most important cultural expressions in our municipality, a meeting place where tradition, creativity, and neighborhood coexistence are mixed”. Pérez also underlined “the enormous work of the local carnival groups and the Festejos department to offer a program designed for all audiences”.
For her part, the Councilor for Celebrations, Estefanía Luzardo, highlighted the gala as "a perfect prelude to everything that is to come," thanking the involvement of the participating groups and encouraging citizens "to enjoy an inclusive, participatory Carnival full of activities for young and old."
Carnival Program from February 9 to 15
After the inaugural gala, the municipal Carnival continues this week with an intense agenda of activities. From February 9 to 11, the municipality hosts the initiative We Play Carnival in Ancient Egypt, with workshops and children's activities that will take place in different civic centers: on Monday 9 at the Güime Civic Center, on Tuesday 10 at the El Islote Civic Center, and on Wednesday 11 at the Montaña Blanca Civic Center, in the afternoonOn Sunday, February 15, the programming moves to Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Park, where from 11:00 AM there will be **inflatables, workshops, and children's characters**. At 12:30 PM, the **Children's Costume Contest** will take place, in individual, couple, and group categories, with the participation of Los Desiguales, consolidating itself as one of the most anticipated events for the families of the municipalityFrom the San Bartolomé City Council, neighbors and visitors are invited to join the different proposals of the Egyptian Carnival 2026 and to enjoy a week full of activities designed to share, celebrate, and live Carnival in community.
