San Bartolomé celebrated this Tuesday, February 17, one of the big days of its carnival programming with the traditional Day Carnival, an event that brought together around 6,000 people on a day that stood out for its family-friendly, participatory nature and its distance from mass crowds, consolidating itself as one of the most valued events in Lanzarote.

The spirit of ancient Egypt inspired the theme of this party that kicked off at 12:30 PM with the Carnival parade, which departed from Constitución street to Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Park, filling the town center with color, costumes, and music.

The sun and good weather accompanied all the people who paraded in their best carnival attire alongside batucadas and comparsas, highlighting the municipal groups of Murga Las Revoltosas and Batucada Guaychara, on a day where pharaohs, pharaohesses, scribes, mummies, and original fantasies danced for more than seven hours of music this carnival Tuesday in San Bartolomé.

At 1:30 PM, the musical performances began with Nueva Estela, this year's breakout group Nueva Línea, to continue with Los 600 and Dj Ángel Pérez, who livened up the afternoon with a festive and intergenerational atmosphere.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted the excellent reception of this festival and pointed out that “Carnaval de Día once again demonstrates that San Bartolomé is committed to a close, family-friendly, and participatory carnival model, where neighbors are the true protagonists. It is one of the most anticipated days, and seeing our streets full of life, costumes, and togetherness is an enormous satisfaction”.

In this regard, Pérez also stressed that “we have managed to consolidate a Carnival that, without falling into mass crowds, is one of the most accepted on the Island, precisely because of its inclusive nature and the quality of its programming”.

For her part, the Councilor for Celebrations of the San Bartolomé City Council, Estefanía Luzardo, highlighted the diversity of activities organized throughout the day. "The Day Carnival is designed for all ages. While young people enjoy the musical performances, families have specific spaces and activities for the little ones, which makes this event a true celebration," she said.

And the day also included the Children's Playroom in the Bodeguita, aimed at children from 3 to 6 years old, and in Casa Cerdeña, for children over 6 years old, with thematic workshops such as Egyptian accessories, Egyptian totem, or Egyptian bags, a children's area, and different recreational activities.

Luzardo also highlighted the success of Nueva Línea's performance: "It was one of the most anticipated moments and the response from the young audience has been spectacular. Betting on groups that are setting trends allows us to attract new audiences without losing the essence of our carnival."

From the San Bartolomé City Council, we want to thank all the AMPAS of the municipality, collectives, entities, and security forces, as well as civil protection, for their participation in making the municipality's Day Carnival a success in terms of attendance and integration.
