The San Roque festivities kicked off this Friday night in Tinajo with words from the parish priest of San Roque, Francisco García Socorro, which gave way to the proclamation by Pilar Poza Mendoza, a pharmacist from the municipality, a witness to an excited and decorated square.

Pilar thanked those present, the mayor, Jesús Machín, and the councilors, family, friends and clients as is practically the entire town of Tinajo. As a herald, she gave a small review of the history of her family and her arrival in Lanzarote and Tinajo. Touched to see so many familiar and loved faces among the audience, Pilar demonstrated, once again, her love for the town of Tinajo, which did not see her born but welcomed her into its arms as just another Tinajo resident.

Subsequently, the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, took the floor, who, after a respectful minute of silence for a neighbor who had died hours before and remembering the figure of San Roque and his miracles, dedicated a few words to the smiling herald, whom he thanked for her dedication and her true commitment to Tinajo, and ended by inviting residents and visitors to enjoy the San Roque Festivities that this Saturday, in the evening, will experience the traditional grape harvest. "Long live San Roque!", concluded the mayor, Jesús Machín, shortly before presenting a beautiful bouquet of flowers to the proud and excited herald, Pilar Poza, to, shortly after, gather on stage with her entire family and smile for a photo that they will remember for the rest of their lives.
