It began two decades ago as an initiative of the El Golfo festival committee to make the neighbors laugh during their popular festivals, but with the passage of time and the constancy and enthusiasm of the organization, the satirical gala of ‘Los Misses’ is not only the most fun event of the La Pardela celebrations, but the most anticipated night and the one that triggers the most participation in the coastal town, as confirmed by the 2026 edition, which this Saturday brought together dozens of locals and visitors in the southern town's festive grounds.
Twenty-one contestants took to the glamorous catwalk to offer a show and try to convince the judging panel, as the Gala de la Pardela, in addition to crowning its Miss and awarding the reign of El Golfo for a year, chooses the most elegant and friendly models.
The jury, composed of experts Juan Antonio Machado, an authority on the subject, Juan Martín de la Cruz, and Paul Burcea, decided unanimously to elect the contestant Miss Paraíso Canario as Miss Pardela 2026, a decision fully shared by the public, in light of the popular reaction when the "heartthrob" César Rijo announced the name of the brand-new winner.
As they say in sports, accompanying Miss Paraíso Canario on the podium were Miss Calabacita, who is part of the old generations of the contest, chosen this year as Miss Elegance, and Miss Dos Pamelas, honored as Miss Sympathy.
The gala noted the generational renewal of candidates, a fact that the festival committee values positively. "Pardelas" with a lot of experience on the catwalk participated, as well as others who are starting to fly, demonstrating good manners.
The show is the spectacle of imperfection and therein lies its success: eccentric costumes, outlandish accessories, and shoes almost impossible to tame, are mixed with the main ingredient of the gala, which is none other than the desire and attitude of the participants to give their all on the catwalk so that the public can disconnect from their routine and have fun with them.
