The José Ramírez Cerdá Park hosted this Sunday a memorable night of opera and zarzuela by the Lanzarote tenor Pancho Corujo and ten young lyrical talents who starred in ‘¡Nessun dorma! Immortal Opera’, a proposal included “by moonlight” in the San Ginés Festivities program prepared by the municipal department headed by Echedey Eugenio.
The also deputy mayor of the city thanks Pancho Corujo, “one of the great ambassadors of the excellent musical culture that we enjoy in Arrecife,” for “the brilliant evening” with which they delighted the numerous audience, as well as the other invited artists who offered a selection of some of the most recognized arias and duets from both genres.
Repertoire
The repertoire included pieces such as ‘Una furtiva lágrima’, ‘L’elisir d’amore’; ‘The Queen of the Night’, ‘The Magic Flute’; and fragments from ‘The Tales of Hoffmann’, ‘The Marriage of Figaro’, ‘Turandot’, ‘Doña Francisquita’, ‘La tabernera del puerto’ and ‘La Revoltosa’, among other compositions that allowed the audience to approach different styles and eras of the lyrical genre.
Alongside Pancho Corujo, sopranos Natividad Oval, Aranxta Cooper and Ana Paula Rada participated; baritones Borja Molina and Enrique Torres; mezzosopranos Mónica Redondo and Julia Merino; bass Max Hochmuth and tenors Víctor Jiménez and Santiago Vidal. The proposal also featured piano accompaniment by Ernesto Alemán and Juan Francisco Parra, who contributed to the excellent musical development of the evening.
