The Auditorium of Jameos del Agua will become the stage for an unrepeatable experience this Saturday, May 17. Surrounded by lava, silence and beauty, attendees will witness a conversation with Gemma Mengual, a living legend of Spanish sport and a world reference in synchronized swimming, who stars in the first episode of Albino Crabs, the new series of conferences organized by the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote in collaboration with Mediaset España.
Presented by the journalist Ángeles Blanco, the meeting Breathing Underwater invites the public to immerse themselves in the universe of a woman who has conquered podiums, overcome limits and transformed discipline and effort into a way of life. Beyond the titles and medals - which total more than forty in world, European and Olympic competitions - Mengual represents essential values: perseverance, beauty, strength, sensitivity and humanity.
Admission to the event will be free, with prior reservation through the website.
A unique voice in an extraordinary place
Albino Crabs is born with the vocation to be more than just a series of interviews: it is an emotional archive, a space for reflection, an invitation to listen to those who have left their mark in their field and in society. The name of the project pays tribute to the small blind and albino crustaceans that inhabit the interior of the Jameos del Agua: a unique, fragile species that has managed to adapt to the most extreme conditions and that symbolizes, precisely, the beauty of the unrepeatable.
Just as these crabs live in harmony with their environment, Albino Crabs proposes a format in which space and content merge.
A proposal with soul, driven from Lanzarote
The Albino Crabs project is part of a broader strategy of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote to generate high-level cultural content that strengthens the island's identity, reinforces its external projection and contributes to creating community from thought, culture and emotion.
As its counselor, Ángel Vázquez, has defended, "Albino Crabs is a project that connects with the essence of what we are: an island that has made its uniqueness a value, and that is committed to protecting and disseminating what really matters. Here it is not just about bringing big names, but about listening to their stories, learning from them and sharing them from a place as symbolic as Jameos del Agua."
Ángeles Blanco will guide this conversation from closeness, emotion and respect, contributing her extensive experience as a communicator. The format also includes the participation of local journalists and questions from the public, thus enriching the dialogue and favoring a collective experience.
An appointment with Gemma Mengual
The first episode of Albino Crabs features a woman who has marked a before and after in Spanish sport. Throughout her career, Gemma Mengual has conquered national and international recognition thanks to her talent, her discipline and her charisma. Today she is the coach of the national artistic swimming team, businesswoman, mother, disseminator and a firm voice on issues such as health, well-being and the visibility of women's sport.
The conversation with Gemma Mengual will not only focus on her sports career, but also on her vision of life, her personal challenges and her way of addressing emotional balance and human connection in an increasingly demanding world.
