With great animation, participation, and a desire to enjoy, the patron saint festivities of Arrecife in honor of San Ginés Obispo are being celebrated. A program full of activities that is causing residents and visitors to take to the streets to share moments of joy, fun, and also, nostalgia.
And precisely of nostalgia, but that beautiful nostalgia that leads us to remember unforgettable moments, the night of last Wednesday was full. At 8:30 PM, the stage set up in José Ramírez Cerdá park welcomed one of the most beloved and remembered vocal groups in our country; El Consorcio, who arrived in Arrecife with their show "De Mocedades a El Consorcio".
Before a large audience ready to have a good time, the first chords of songs began to sound that, for several generations, have become the true soundtrack of their lives.
On stage, Estíbaliz and Iñaki Uranga, Carlos Zubiaga, former members of Mocedades, and the young Allende Blanco Uranga, daughter of Sergio and Estíbaliz, currently form El Consorcio, a vocal group par excellence in our country and the only Hispanic group to have sold more than a million copies of a single sung entirely in Spanish.
Accompanied by a magnificent band formed by four great music professionals, the members of El Consorcio needed only a few chords to immediately connect with the audience. From the first moment, the voices of Estíbaliz, Iñaki, Carlos, and Allende mixed with those of the attendees, who sang their songs practically from beginning to end.
It was a concert in which the complicity between the singers was evident. Close, kind, affectionate, and with a sympathy that transcended the stage, they managed to win over the audience from the first minutes.
And then those songs that are part of the collective memory of several generations began to parade: "Tómame o Déjame", "Amor de Hombre", "El Cacha chá del Tren", Dónde estás Corazón", "El Vendedor", "Le llamaban Loca", "Secretaria", "Eres Tú", among many others.
Timeless songs that for many years were much more than simple songs. They were messages of love, friendship, longing, and affection that arrived through the radio waves.
For many of those present, those melodies brought to mind an era when families gathered around the radio, at home or while traveling in the car, paying attention to dedications and songs requested by phone or by postcard with all the love in the world for that special person.
In Lanzarote, programs like "Lanzarote va de Ronda" or "Tardes del Sábado", broadcast by Radio Lanzarote, became the usual company for many families. Through them, songs traveled from one home to another, carrying stories, memories, and dedications.
That is why El Consorcio's concert was much more than a musical performance. It was a real journey back in time.
"De Mocedades a El Consorcio" managed to awaken dormant memories and bring back, even if only for a few hours, moments and experiences from other times. The songs opened up that particular album of memories that each person keeps in their mind.
And while some sang emotionally from their seats, others could not resist the rhythm of the music. The area around the stage ended up becoming an improvised dance floor, where more than one decided to leave their seat to do some good dancing.
The joy was contagious.
Estíbaliz, Iñaki, Carlos, and Allende not only sang; they gave their all on stage, and the audience responded in the best possible way; singing, dancing, and applauding each of their performances.
The closeness, friendliness, and naturalness of the four members made a very special connection between artists, musicians, and the audience throughout the night. There was no distance between the stage and the people in front of it. There was complicity, shared memories, and many songs that everyone knew.
Without a doubt, it was one of those concerts that will remain in the memory of those who had the opportunity to enjoy it.
An unforgettable night, full of music, joy, and fun, but also of that nostalgia that allows us to return for a few moments to other moments in our lives.
Because there are songs that never go out of style. Songs that remain in our memory, forever associated with people, places, loves, friendships, and special moments.
And that is precisely what El Consorcio achieved in Arrecife; dusting off memories and giving many people back the soundtrack of their lives.
A night to sing, to dance, to smile and, why not, to get emotional remembering past times.
A San Ginés night that, without a doubt, will take a long time to be forgotten.
The concert had the institutional support of the Arrecife City Council, the Fiestas department led by councilor Echedey Eugenio, and the Senior Area led by councilor Rosmen Quevedo.
