The San Bartolomé City Council celebrated this Friday one of the most anticipated events of its Patron Saint Festivals with the traditional Popular Pilgrimage, an event that once again brought together hundreds of residents and visitors on a route full of tradition, folklore, and coexistence.
The pilgrimage departed from the soccer field and traveled through Sereno, Rubicón, Calderetas, and Párroco San Martín streets until reaching Plaza León y Castillo, where pilgrims, musical groups, floats, and groups dressed in traditional Canarian attire offered an image of identity and pride in the municipality's roots.
After the arrival of the procession, the celebration continued with the Baile del Romero, enlivened by Lanzarote Swing and Borrón y Cuenta Nueva, to then give way to a massive Popular Festival in Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Park, where Tremendo Son, Mambo Latino, and DJ Javi Fajardo provided the grand finale to a festive day marked by participation and an excellent atmosphere.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted that "the Popular Pilgrimage represents the essence of our Patron Saint Festivals. It is a day when the municipality comes together to celebrate our traditions, share our customs, and proudly display our identity. Seeing the streets full of pilgrims, music, and families enjoying themselves together is the best demonstration that these festivals continue to be a meeting point for all citizens."
The mayor also wanted to thank "the involvement of all the people, groups, musical ensembles, associations, security forces, municipal staff, and volunteers who have made the development of this day possible, as well as the exemplary behavior of the attendees, who contributed to everything proceeding normally and in an atmosphere of coexistence."
For her part, the Councilor for Festivals, Estefanía Luzardo, pointed out that "the Pilgrimage is one of the most beloved events of our festivals because it keeps our traditions alive and allows us to share them with new generations and with those who visit the municipality during these days. The great public response once again demonstrates the enormous deep-rootedness that these celebrations have in San Bartolomé."
Luzardo added that "from the Council we continue working to offer a program designed for all audiences, in which the most traditional events coexist with cultural, musical, and leisure proposals that make our Patron Saint Festivals a benchmark on the island".
With this multitudinous day, the San Bartolomé City Council continues to develop a program that combines tradition, culture, and citizen participation, consolidating the Patron Saint Festivals as one of the most important events on the municipality's festive calendar.
