The Department of Festivals of the Arrecife City Council, led by Deputy Mayor Echedey Eugenio, celebrated this Sunday a new edition of the Meeting of Dance Schools as part of the events of the Carnival of the Lanzarote capital, consolidating this event as one of the most participatory and applauded events in the program.
More than 200 participants took to the stage to showcase the choreographies prepared to celebrate Carnival, on a day that once again brought together a large audience and stood out for the variety of styles and the artistic quality of the proposals. The gala was hosted by Carmen Nieves Pérez, who accompanied the audience during an afternoon full of rhythm, energy, and emotion.
Dynamism
On stage participated different schools from the Island, a reflection of the dynamism and talent that exists in the field of dance. The Samira Rif Arabic Dance School, present in Arrecife, San Bartolomé, Playa Honda and Tías, offered a show with a representative group from its center, showing its work of disseminating Arab culture through dance. In this same line, the Hayati school, under the direction of Alejandra Cabrera, presented a proposal of Arabic dances and belly dance that brought elegance and expressiveness to the event.
The Beatriz Senet Dance School presented its samba group, directed by Alma Rocío, with the participation of the initiation group, filling the stage with rhythm and color. For its part, Lanzarote Baila, under the direction of Miguel Medina, presented its group of young people and adults in an urban style proposal.
MTDance, directed by Tatiana Niz, showed a choreographic mix performed by the babys group and another piece by young people and adults from the school. Likewise, the Escuela Celia Medina offered several pieces performed by its modern and contemporary students, highlighting the versatility and artistic sensitivity of its formations.
La Escuela Báilame, under the direction of Lucía López, brought to the stage the small and medium groups with a dynamic urban mix. For their part, Xtrem Up, directed by Hacomar Arrocha and Jenni Angell, presented two pieces performed by their Infantil Pro and Jóvenes Pro groups, which demonstrated stage presence and choreographic precision.
“Talent Showcase”
The deputy mayor and councilor for Festivals, Echedey Eugenio, highly valued the development of the event, highlighting that "the Arrecife Carnival is also a showcase for the enormous talent we have in our city and on the Island. More than 200 people, of different ages, sharing a stage is a testament to the commitment of the schools and the constant work they do throughout the year."
Eugenio added that “from the Department of Festivals we continue to bet on giving visibility to our academies and on offering spaces where culture and participation are the protagonists of Carnival”. The deputy mayor thanks the involvement of all the schools, teachers, students, and families, as well as the response of the public, who once again supported with their presence one of the most anticipated events of the Arrecife Carnival.
