From Little Red Riding Hood to She-Wolf in Just Six Guys arrives at Jameos del Agua after ten years of success and with more than half a million spectators, by the hand of the international humor festival, next August 8. We speak with Marta González de la Vega, the protagonist.
- What will the audience who doesn't know the show yet find?
They will find themselves laughing at themselves because they will identify a lot with everything that is told, whether you are a man or a woman, because this show is for all sexes and we are all equally pathetic, especially when we fall in love. And laughing at yourself is the first step to starting to be happy!
- The title is already a declaration of intent. What does a woman have to do to go from Little Red Riding Hood to a she-wolf?
A woman and a man! Because as I've already told you, this happens to all of us! We are all Little Red Riding Hood when we fall in love and the challenge is to become a she-wolf, and what we have to do is this: learn to laugh at ourselves louder than anyone else. Because if no one can laugh at you louder than you can, no one can hurt you with anything!
- The show talks about relationships, men, women, and personal experiences. How much is fiction and how much is reality on stage?
It's all reality, taken to parody, which is the way to learn to laugh at what seems like a drama to us. But not everything has happened to me. I also draw from what happens to my friends, friends, family, everyone, and I incorporate it into the play as if it all happened to me.
- Humor has changed a lot in recent years. Are there topics that are more difficult to make humor about today?
I think we can laugh at everything and we should, because humor frees us from fear and makes us free.
- What does it mean to you to perform in such a special and unique place as Jameos del Agua?
A wonderful experience because it's a magical place and, on top of that, it's the first time I'm doing the show in the Canary Islands, my homeland, after ten years of doing it on Madrid's Gran Vía.
- Does the experience of being on stage in a space like this change?
Of course! A place like this over-amplifies all emotion!
- Do you think men and women laugh at the same things when we talk about couples, dates, and relationships?
Yes, because we are all the same when we fall in love. I think what separates the two groups is not being a man or a woman, but whether you are in love or not, and we have all been in both groups.
- What do you expect to find on August 8th in the Lanzarote audience?
It's not that I expect it, it's that I know I'm going to find an incredible audience because I've performed all over Spain and also abroad and I know for a fact that the Canary Islands audience is among the best there is on earth!
