The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, who toured the stalls this Friday together with the Minister of Crafts, Carmen Guadalupe, the Minister of Culture, Alberto Aguiar and the CEO of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, stressed the importance of recovering the Insular Craft Fair, to contribute to maintaining the identity and uniqueness of the island of Lanzarote.
María Dolores Corujo wanted to emphasize the help that this fair provides to a sector greatly affected by the pandemic, such as crafts. Thus, in her speech, the president assured that "The artisans of the island have had a very bad time, which is why they deserved the effort we have made from public administrations to carry out this event and show the public everything that our crafts have to offer."
"The celebration of this Fair is the clearest sign that we have gradually recovered levels of normality," the president stated.
The inauguration, which brought together artisans and residents from various municipalities and islands, was attended by different mayors of the island, highlighting the host mayor, Jesús Machín, who assured that it is a pride for his town that the Insular Craft Fair is held every year in Mancha Blanca.
In turn, the mayor asked all attendees to respect the established security measures, so that the fair takes place without any incidents.
Due to the pandemic, the capacity will be controlled through an automated control system from a large digital arch located at the entrance and exit of the space. It should be remembered that the fair will be open from this Friday, the 10th, until Wednesday, the 15th.
