Mala celebrated this Saturday, September 20, the popular pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Mercy. The event began with the departure from the old post office located on Cangrejo Street, where participants toured the main streets of the town accompanied by the Malpaís de La Corona group.
The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, pointed out that "these celebrations are part of the cultural and festive heritage of our municipality, and allow us to keep our traditions alive." "We appreciate the participation of the citizens, which makes it possible for these festivals to continue to be a success," he concluded.
For his part, the Councilor for Festivities, Alberto de León, explained that "the festival program included both religious events and popular activities, to encourage the participation of neighbors and visitors in a safe and organized environment."
The day continued with the Baile del Romero, accompanied by the traditional enyesque, and the election of the oldest romero and romera, ending with performances by the island musical groups El Golpito, Sondemar and Son del Norte.
