La27 was presented yesterday at the Sociedad Democracia in Arrecife as a new podcast dedicated to cinema and the conversations that arise around it. Driven by Fabio Cabrera and Benji Machín, the project proposes to talk about films in a close way and share with the public the experience of those who enjoy the seventh art.
The Sociedad Democracia collaborates with La27 by providing the space where the podcast will be recorded. Their support allows the project to have a meeting place from which to shape the conversations. During the presentation, Luis Miranda, president of the Sociedad Democracia, and other executives accompanied the promoters of La27 and discussed different synergies to continue promoting the project together.
La27 is born from the friendship between Fabio and Benji, who met more than thirteen years ago in a shared room: number 27. That number today gives its name to a project that unites their interest in cinema with the desire to converse and create community. Benji brings his cinephile perspective, which he had already shared on social media through DulcesoSaladas; Fabio focuses on entertainment, reflection, and the enjoyment of each film.
Christopher Bernal completes the team from production and editing. His work gives audiovisual form to the conversations and contributes to building the podcast's identity behind the scenes.
The project also has the sponsorship of Phoenix Production Media and Más Comunicación. La27 thanked both companies for their support during the presentation and the collaboration of the Sociedad Democracia in this new phase.
Luis Miranda, President of the Sociedad Democracia, reflected on these types of projects that are carried out in the establishment. “Having these types of initiatives are necessary to continue promoting culture and activities in Lanzarote, and we want to be part of this project by collaborating in everything we can from the Sociedad Democracia”.
The project promoters, Benji and Fabio from their position, emphasized that “From the first call with Luis, we could feel that connection to make a project a reality that we had been talking about for a long time and we needed the support of a venue with the right conditions to be able to carry it out, the Sociedad Democracia meets all the requirements”.

Q. How did the idea of making the leap from social media to podcasting arise?
Benji and Fabio: It all started as a hobby. Benji was already commenting on movies on social media with DulcesoSaladas and we had been talking about movies among friends for years. The podcast was the natural next step: moving from those couch chats to a format where we could share them with more people. In the end, La27 is born from the same thing that united us thirteen years ago in that room, the desire to share what we are passionate about.
Q. What will listeners find on La27 and how does it differ from other movie podcasts?
Benji and Fabio: We talk about movies without spoilers and without filters. We don't aim to give criticism lessons: they are close conversations, with our perspective and our sense of humor, in which movies are an excuse to have a good time. We want whoever listens to us to feel like part of the conversation, like another friend sitting at the table.
Q. What does it mean to launch this project from Lanzarote and in a space like Sociedad Democracia?
Benji and Fabio: It is fundamental for us. Lanzarote is our home and we are especially excited to create culture and community from here. Having Sociedad Democracia is not just having a place to record: it is a meeting point with history, and feeling their support from day one gives us the foundation to do things well and keep growing.
