The proposal Tropicalia, sabor a Carnaval is chosen as the allegory for the Teguise Carnival 2027 after the citizen participation process, promoted by the Teguise City Council, concluded, allowing citizens to choose the theme for the image and ambiance of the upcoming festivities.
The winning proposal obtained 30.3% of the votes, closely followed by “Un Carnaval de locura, Teguise en el País de las Maravillas” (A Crazy Carnival, Teguise in Wonderland), with 29.6%. In third place was “Latidos de África” (Heartbeats of Africa), with 24.8%, while “Steampunk, la fábrica del tiempo” (Steampunk, the Time Factory) reached 15.3%.
In total, more than 450 people participated in the vote, which took place on the municipal website between September 21 and October 2. In this way, citizens were able to decide among four different proposals the theme that will serve as the common thread for the Teguise Carnival 2027.
The mayor, Olivia Duque, thanks the participation registered during the process and highlights that “the carnival is a celebration that belongs to all citizens, who have been able to participate in the election of its theme”. In this regard, she points out that work must now be done “to bring this idea to the streets and to the different events”.
For his part, the Councilor for Festivities, Andoni Machín, points out that “the four proposals offered very different possibilities for developing the image and ambiance” and celebrates that “citizens have participated in the election of the theme”.
The Teguise Carnival 2027 also has its dates defined. Costa Teguise and La Villa will celebrate their events from February 15 to 21, while La Graciosa will do so from March 4 to 7.
With the election of “Tropicalia, sabor a Carnaval” as the allegory, Teguise begins to shape its 2027 Carnival with the upcoming publication of the rules for the contest to choose the official poster, which will take the theme chosen by the citizens as a reference and will become the image of the next edition of the Carnival.
