Musician and singer José Cruz offered his concert "Con A de Amor" last Thursday night at the centennial Sociedad Democracia in Arrecife.
The event, a charity event in favor of the NGO Calor y Café, was organized by the Lanzarote Bartenders Association on the occasion of the Santa Marta festival, patron saint of Hospitality. During the evening, Wenceslao Gil, president of the Association and promoter of the concert, called on those present to collaborate with the cause by donating non-perishable products.
The musical part was in charge of José Cruz, who offered an emotional journey through great songs of yesterday, today and always. With a careful and varied musical selection, the artist managed to connect with the public, who did not hesitate to accompany him humming and applauding each song, turning the concert into a warm and close experience, full of nostalgia and emotion.
About José Cruz
José Cruz began his musical career at an early age as a member of the orchestra Voces Nuevas, in which he remained until its dissolution. Later, he continued his career with the newly created orchestra Guatatiboa. Throughout the years, he has maintained a close link with the world of music, participating in numerous galas held throughout the island's geography, especially on the occasion of the patron saint festivities of towns and neighborhoods.
His participation in the Lanzarote Singers Association Maesarpey, chaired by Encarna Páez, with whom he had a regular presence at the San Ginés festivities, thus consolidating his commitment to Lanzarote's popular music, stands out.
José Cruz has also left a significant mark as musical director of the Parranda Marinera de Buches, collaborating in the group's only official recording, in which he performs, among other songs, an emotional version of Folías Porteñas.
Currently, he continues his work as musical director of the group Alborada Peña del Lentisco and also serves as president of the popular music group Teguey, from San Bartolomé, reaffirming his role as a reference in the traditional music scene of Lanzarote.
At the end of the concert, Wenceslao Gil, president of the Lanzarote Bartenders Association, presented him with a plaque for his selfless collaboration, congratulating him on the success obtained.
