Hundreds of people gather on the mountain of Teguise to celebrate the Pilgrimage of Las Nieves

The offering had to be carried out inside the Sanctuary because the strong wind did not allow the image to go out to the esplanade, thus preventing it from suffering any damage.

In keeping with tradition, hundreds of pilgrims gathered on the mountain of Teguise next to the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves to fulfill their promise. 

The bravest defied the heat and the prevailing wind, while the elderly arrived in their own cars and others by bus. At 5.30 pm, as scheduled, the expedition set off, led by the mayoress of Teguise Town Council, Olivia Duque, and the councillor for Fiestas, Francisco Javier Díaz, with some corporation colleagues and a good number of residents. This year they were also joined by residents from the seaside village of La Santa, who participated with their float attached to the two from the Town Council, decorated as is traditional in Lanzarote. To which must be added the musical entertainment throughout the journey with the family of the El Pavón Musical Group, making the journey more bearable.

Upon arriving at the crossroads, they joined the residents of the villages of Los Valles, Teseguite and El Mojón with their carts also decorated and very lively with the chords of the El Lagar de Teseguite and Los Valles parrandas, formed by great party-goers who love traditional folklore, during the tour as usual they shared some enyesque, where there was no shortage of good wines from Lanzarote (wines).

At 7.30 pm the Eucharist began for the pilgrims who had arrived in cars and buses, presided over by the parish priest of Teguise, Juan Manuel Molina, who was very happy with the response of the parishioners who overcame the inclement weather and went up to the mountain to accompany Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves.

He also highlighted the work carried out by the resident of the village of Soo Nori Machín, who encouraging young and old contributed with their savings to be able to come by bus, some young people did it walking and the return was done by all by bus. At the end of the Eucharist, the parish priest Juan Manuel Molina, who was overflowing with joy at seeing the participation and involvement of all, microphone in hand acted as presenter at the time of the offerings of non-perishable products and that this year a large quantity was achieved.

Meanwhile, the institutional representation of the Teguise Town Council in the offerings was headed by its mayoress, Olivia Duque, and the councillor for Fiestas, Francisco Javier Díaz, accompanied by some corporation colleagues, followed by the residents of the nearby villages of the municipality, who were also joined by a representation from La Santa and Soo. All the products, according to the parish priest, are destined for Cáritas Parroquiales de Teguise and Insulares for distribution among the most vulnerable families.

Then began the musical offering, which this year included the participation of the Parranda El Lagar de Teseguite with the Altaja dance troupe, the popular music group El Pavón and the Ntra. Sra. de Guadalupe de Teguise Third Age Association. All offered the best of traditional music and dances. The party continued afterwards in the vicinity of the Sanctuary where the most party-goers continued to liven up with timples, guitars and voices, deeply rooted traditions that are passed down from generation to generation.
