The Fiestas Patronales de San Juan Bautista face from June 18 to 24, their big week in Haría, where residents and visitors can enjoy a wide range of events that will turn the
municipality into a meeting point around local traditions and identity.
The mayor, Alfredo Villalba, points out that "these festivals are one of the most important celebrations for the municipality and an opportunity to share our traditions, strengthen coexistence, and highlight the cultural heritage of our town."
For his part, the Councilor for Celebrations, Alberto de León, emphasizes that "the program brings together some of the most representative events of the festivals, designed for all audiences, giving prominence to our cultural heritage."
The program will begin next Thursday, June 18, with the traditional Fiesta de los Mayores. One day later, on June 19, the XXII edition of the Malpaís de la Corona Folk Festival will take place in the Plaza de Haría, which this year will be held under the title "Contra todo mal" (Against all evil). On the same day at 8:00 PM, the presentation of the Casa del Mayor project will be held. With it, homage will be paid to the women who served as healers in Lanzarote through popular knowledge and oral tradition. The event will feature the participation of the Agrupación Folclórica Estrella y Guía, from Gran Canaria, and the Grupo Agarau, from Tenerife.
On June 20, the VI Aday Ponce Lemes Veterans Football Memorial will take place, as well as the XXX Romería in honor of San Juan Bautista, one of the most crowded events of the festivals. The celebration will bring together parrandas and folk groups. Finally, the offering to the saint and the traditional romeros dance will be held.
The program will continue on June 21 with the meeting of Dance Schools and on June 22 with the San Juan 2026 Concert. On June 23, the town square will be the setting for the institutional act of the XXVIII Haría Awards, where the group of artisans and producers of the artisanal tourist experience will be recognized, and Juan Santana de León, who will posthumously receive the designation of favorite son.
That same night, the Noche del Fuego (Night of Fire) will be celebrated, which will include the Quema de Facundo, the Danza del Fuego (Fire Dance), a fireworks display, and a popular festival.
The program will conclude on June 24 with the Holy Mass in honor of Saint John the Baptist in the church of Our Lady of the Incarnation and the subsequent procession through the streets of the town.
