Last Saturday, November 29, the Haría City Council organized the presentation of the book ‘Testigo de una historia’, by author Marcial Martín, at the La Tegala Sociocultural Center, where dozens of people were able to enjoy a day filled with the history and evolution of the first Art, Culture, and Tourism Centers in Lanzarote.
The mayor, Alfredo Villalba, thanked the author of this work for his willingness and collaboration in celebrating "an encounter that would foster between new and old generations the heritage legacy on the island and how the municipality contributed to this achievement," he pointed out"The Haría City Council, presided over at the time by Juan Pablo de León, bet on the Lanzarote Cabildo's project for the construction of the first tourist centers, with which to promote tourism on the island at a time when the primary sector sustained the economy," stated Alfredo Villalba.For her part, the Councilor for Culture, Evelia García, highlighted the need to continue creating these types of initiatives to encourage the learning of traditions and the beginning of an era marked by the primary sector in tourism. "Haría is a town committed to its idiosyncrasy and tradition," she stated
The author highlighted the fundamental role the municipality played with a rapid adaptation of the territory to transform the island. "Thanks to the City Council, which ceded the land, we have one of the tourist attractions with the greatest impact in Lanzarote," stressed Marcial Martín.
The book presentation, moderated by journalist Techy Acosta, covered the social and cultural context of the Centers of Art, Culture, and Tourism, as well as their creation and subsequent progress over time, with the contribution of the society of that era.
