This Sunday, on the occasion of the festivities in honor of San Marcial de Rubicón, the XVI Meeting of Soloists 2024 took place. Over the years, the event has become consolidated for many lovers of traditional Canarian folklore. So much so that the tent located in the Plaza de San Marcial was filled by the public to enjoy the most representative of Canarian music.
For this edition, the organization had the great family of the 'Agrupación Folclórica Tetir' from Fuerteventura. A group that has been around for more than 50 years since its foundation in 1973, through which more than 300 members have passed and in which the rescue and conservation of the intangible heritage, customs, clothing and expressions of the island of Majorera have been its main vocation.
In the 'Agrupación Folclórica Tetir' excellent bastions of the music of the land have been formed, such as Pancho González, Domingo Rodríguez Oramas "El Colorao", Memo González or Manuel Navarro hijo, among others. In addition, it had the new saga of soloists such as Ayla Rodríguez, Tomás Perera or Brian Chacón. The group was in charge of providing the base music to accompany each of the soloists involved, enriching each of their dances with their choreographies, which, with great showiness, showed off during the entire meeting wearing a peasant clothing corresponding to the 19th and 20th centuries.
The Tetir family performed three representative pieces from Fuerteventura such as La Malagueñita de los Novios, Berlina, Polca and Isa Corrida that were performed by the soloists Layla Rodríguez, Tomás Perera and Brian Chacón. The songs were interspersed with folías, seguidillas, isas and malagueñas in the voices of the Lanzarote residents Gara Niz, Israel López, Andrea Rodríguez and Iván Díaz.
The public supported with their applause each of the interventions of the soloists from Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, to the body of touch and dancers who, very animated, finished with an Isa Corrida.
