The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through its Culture Area, has prepared a varied cultural program for this month of February. Residents and visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities that include music, film, exhibitions and conferences, designed for all audiences.

The Culture Councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jesús Machín Tavío, has stressed the importance of this program: “February arrives loaded with proposals that seek to enrich the cultural life of our island. We invite everyone to participate and enjoy these activities that we have organized with dedication, with the aim of reaching every corner of the island.”

Music

The month of February begins with a musical program that ranges from flamenco to Latin jazz, through the recovery of ancestral sounds and fusion with modern rhythms.

One of the most anticipated proposals is the Judeline concert, on February 6, with tickets already sold out. The next day, the multi-instrumentalist Abraham Cupeiro will present The Forgotten Sounds, a proposal that will transport the public through time rescuing ancient instruments and traditional melodies, in Jameos del Agua.

On February 8, the island will experience Cuban sound and Latin jazz thanks to the performance of Troveros de Asieta, together with violinist Alfredo de la Fe, within the program of the Canary Islands International Music Festival, which also brings the Vienna Boys Choir to Lanzarote, also with everything sold out.

Theater

Theater always occupies a prominent place in the island's cultural program. This month features proposals that focus on experimentation and comedy. On Saturday, February 8, Prototekné will present Neón, In media res, a performative show that will have two performances at El Almacén, which on the 14th will also host the performance HABITAR(r), by Laboratorio Escénico.

At the end of the month, on February 27, the Teatro Víctor Fernández Gopar "El Salinero" will host Rumore, rumore!, a scenic proposal by Momi Chou and Isabella Y Punto that will offer two passes, at 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Film

The Cine Buñuel cycle continues, which this month offers three films of great interest at El Almacén. In this order, Rock Bottom by María Trénor will be screened, an innovative audiovisual work that explores the connection between music and image through animation.

Later it will be the turn of Oh, Canada by Paul Schrader, a film that promises an introspective and provocative look at contemporary society. Finally, The End, by Joshua Oppenheimer, a film that turns an apocalyptic future into a musical.

Also, Cine Club returns paying posthumous tribute to David Lynch with the screening of Eraserhead, on February 22.

Exhibitions

The visual arts continue to occupy a key place on the February agenda with a series of exhibitions that explore landscape, identity and creativity in various forms.

This month the exhibition Polinos. Malvasía espacial by Fernando Miñarro opens in El Almacén, February 21, an exhibition that can be visited until April 5 and that raises an interesting approach to the intersection between art and science.

And you can continue enjoying Por los llanos de Guasia, an exhibition by Mario Delgado, which says goodbye on February 15 at the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz. At the Casona de Femés, Arte Yaiza: The collection remains open to the public until March 1, showing a selection of works by Canarian artists who have left their mark on the island's art scene.
