To mark the Canary Islands Day holiday, the Buches Marinera Parranda presented its new sailor attire, a true reflection of how the men and women of the sea dressed. Artisans were involved in this new project, contributing their experiences of what clothes people related to seafaring tasks wore on board the ship and those who worked on land, fishing and gathering seafood.

The management of the Buches Marinera Parranda has been involved in rescuing the Traditional Porteño Carnival in recent years, giving it a quality boost. As a marinera parranda, they also wanted to contribute by rescuing this clothing and thus participate in such a special event and make an appearance in some of the activities programmed for Canary Islands Day.

Parranda Marinera de Buches not only presented the new sailor attire, but also offered an extensive repertoire of sea shanties to which the public present in the José Ramírez Cerdá park in Arrecife also joined their voices and, very animated, performed compositions such as, Vals Marinero, Querida Lola, Niña bonita and La Batea del Gofio, among others.

The Government of the Canary Islands awarded them the Gold Medal in 2023 for their dedication to rescuing and disseminating the seafaring culture of Arrecife and Lanzarote. The newly elected president, Juan Antonio Machado, his board of directors and members continue to work day by day to ensure that the Parranda Marinera de Buches, a tradition rooted in the capital, is declared an Asset of Cultural Interest of the Canary Islands with the ultimate goal of being recognized as Intangible Heritage of Humanity by Unesco.
