Los Dolores Square, in Mancha Blanca, witnessed on Saturday night a spectacle that will be etched in the collective memory of those who experienced it. Under the evocative title of Balada Sabanda, three giants of Canarian and Latin American popular music came together on stage: Los Sabandeños, Olga Cerpa and Mestisay. The result was a deeply emotional evening, where the complicity between artists and the public turned the concert into an authentic celebration of identity and music with soul.
With more than thirty musicians and soloists on stage, the proposal was much more than a concert: it was a sonic and sentimental journey through the songs that have marked generations. The unmistakable voices of Los Sabandeños with their outstanding soloists and the expressive force of Olga Cerpa, directed by Israel Espino and Manuel González, created a perfect synergy that transcended the boundaries of the stage.
From the first chords, the public responded enthusiastically with resounding applause listening to songs such as: Tambor de Sequías, La flor de la Canela, De la Esperanza a Taganana, Balada de Sabana, Maspalomas y Tú or En busca de Valentina performed as a duet by Olga Cerpa and the soloists of Los Sabandeños, such as Rayco Déniz, David Muñoz, Juan Díaz and Besay Pérez. These songs resonated with renewed force, remembering that they are part of the soul of our islands.
The staging was impeccable: warm lights, a clear and enveloping sound, and a musical direction that managed to balance the prominence of each group and soloist. The professionalism of all the performers, surrounded by the choral harmonies of Los Sabandeños, built a show where each song was an emotional bridge between the Canary Islands and Latin America.
But if something defined the night it was the complicity; the one that flowed between the artists, between the musicians and their songs, and between all of them a completely dedicated public. At several moments, the voices of the public joined those of the artists, merging into a collective song that made the heart of Mancha Blanca vibrate.
Balada Sabanda was not only the grand finale of the Festivals in Honor of Our Lady of Los Dolores 2025, it was also a declaration of love for music with roots, for folklore that travels, transforms and returns, and for the power of culture to unite, excite and create community.
When the last chord fell and the applause faded, a certainty floated in the air; that night had not only been a concert, but a shared experience, one of those that are remembered with gratitude and emotion. An indelible mark on the soul of Lanzarote.
