Filmmaker Rafael Sadoc has presented *Aulas de Cine*, a feature film that **mixes drama and comedy** recorded between Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz, and Madrid, which pays tribute to the filmmaker and screenwriter Roberto Pérez Toledo from Lanzarote.Sadoc recounts that he met Roberto Pérez in 2012 when he presented a short film at the Matadero cultural and artistic center in Madrid. "I've been trying to get this script off the ground since 2015 and it's been incredibly difficult, but I managed it," the filmmaker tells *La Voz*.
Aulas de Cine is about a filmmaker who ends up at a high school in Sanlúcar de Barrameda and, to get the students to ignite their creative spark, he shows them several short films. Among them are Los gritones, by Roberto Pérez Toledo, which "always resonated the most" with Sadoc. It also includes Cuerdas, by Pedro Solís, which won a Goya Award.
In this film, several short films like the ones mentioned above are used, which were a motivation and inspiration for the filmmaker from Cadiz to make movies. In addition, amateur and professional actors participate, such as Antonio Coca, Macarena Díaz, or Dioni Torres.
"When we filmed the short film screening sequence, the kids hadn't seen them, so we wanted to capture their reactions," he explains. The feature film shows how the students create their own short films with their own stories based on the others they have seen.
Rafael Sadoc is awaiting confirmation on whether the Málaga Film Festival will accept the feature film to compete in it, in order to know when they will be able to screen the movie. If it is accepted, it will hit the big screen starting in March, and if not, its screening will begin at the end of February.
The goal is to bring it to the big screen, although Sadoc acknowledges that "these days it's difficult to get a film into cinemas, and even more so to keep it there." Thus, his plan is to show it in cinemas, on beaches, in theaters, or auditoriums. "We want the film to have a life, not to be shown for two days and then be over. We hope we can reach Lanzarote, and that's something that would really excite me because it's not only a tribute to Roberto, but also to the short film," he concludes.
