Arrecife vibrates with the start of its Carnival: music, dance and fun

This Sunday the party continues with the canine costume contest, children's workshops and the expected IX Children's Murga Contest.

Arrecife Daytime Carnival

Thousands of people have enjoyed the first day of the Arrecife Day Carnival. At 12 noon this Saturday, the party started on Agramar Avenue where carnival-goers danced to the performances of the Tamarindo, Combo Dominicano, Chicas la Habana, Platino, Armonía Show, Dani Valiente and Dj Maxi Ferrer orchestras. 

The capital's Carnival will continue this Sunday, February 23, at 12 noon with the canine costume contest, which will feature a performance by the Beatrice Senent Dance School. 

In the Agramar Enclosure from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. will be the 'City of Carnival' with workshops, games, animation and surprises. And at 6:00 p.m. the IX Children's Murga Contest will be held with Los Intoxicaditos, Los Titiñecos, Los Chau-Chau, Los Noveleros and the performance of MT Dance.

Change in the program

The intensity of the first weekend of the Arrecife Carnival will continue at the beginning of the following week with the celebration on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 of the two semifinals of the XXXV Adult Murgas Contest, which will have its outcome on Friday 28 with the celebration of the Grand Final.

The three phases of the Contest will take place from 8:30 p.m. in Agramar, which on Wednesday 26 will host from 6:00 p.m. the Exhibition of Dance Schools of Lanzarote -in what is a change in the program as its celebration was originally scheduled for March 1- which will be followed from 8:00 p.m. by the Exhibition of Comparsas. The day will conclude with the performance of the Bourbon Group from 11:00 p.m.
