Next October 6th is the Day of Spanish Cinema, an event that celebrates its second anniversary in 2022 and in which, in the case of Lanzarote, the documentary 'En construcción' by José Luis Guerin will be screened.
'En construcción' is an audiovisual work about the Raval neighborhood (Barcelona). Known for the prostitution that took place in its streets, for drug sales and for generalized poverty, it underwent a major urban transformation with the proclamation of Barcelona as an Olympic city.
In this film by Guerin, some of the people who live in the neighborhood are introduced, right at this moment of change.
The screening, which will also feature a subsequent debate, is organized by the Asociación Tenique Cultural, and will take place at El Almacén (Arrecife) starting at 8:00 p.m., with free access.
The Day of Spanish Cinema
During the past year 2021, the Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry of Culture, agreed to establish October 6 as the Day of Spanish Cinema, with the purpose of recognizing the role of filmmakers and the heritage value of local cinema.
The chosen date corresponds to the official day of the end of the production of 'Esa pareja feliz', a film written and directed by Juan Antonio Bardem and Luis García Berlanga, which has become a Spanish symbol.
