The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has announced that this Friday, November 21, the Christmas lights will be turned on in the capital of Lanzarote. In a press release, he highlighted that "for the first time, the Christmas decorations and lighting ambiance will reach all urban centers of the city, from Argana Alta to the waterfront area, and from Lloret to La Concha".

The official lighting ceremony is moved up a week from the traditional first weekend of Advent because the city council has planned "numerous events" for these Christmas, New Year's, and Three Kings' Day festivities. Among them is the unveiling of the renovated Plaza de Las Palmas, next to the church of San Ginés, at the end of this month, after the rehabilitation works on this historic Arrecife site are completed. According to the mayor, the work is scheduled to be received on November 28.

The city's mayor, and directly responsible for the Public Works Department, to which the Municipal Lighting Service is attached, has detailed that during this 2025, Christmas lighting has been deployed throughout all urban centers that make up the municipality of Arrecife: Argana Alta, Argana Baja, Maneje, Tinasoria, Altavista, Titerroy, San Francisco Javier, Las Salinas, La Destila, La Vega, Los Alonso, Valterra, El Lomo, Lloret, La Concha, El Cable and the accesses to Los Diseminados next to Argana Alta and Camino de Güime.

Since last September, the company awarded these installations began setting up the Christmas lights

A parade to welcome Christmas

The Department of Commerce and Tourism, headed by councilwoman Eli Merino, has organized a street performance for this Friday, November 21st, which will take place from 7:00 PM, starting from the Cuatro Esquinas area, announcing the arrival of Christmas along Calle Real to the La Plazuela area, where the epicenter of the official lighting ceremony will be.

The Arrecife City Council wishes for this central act of the lighting to be the prelude to the intense days that it assures "the Arrecife Open Commercial Zone will experience, where it has one of its biggest sales seasons during these Christmas holidays".

Mayor Yonathan de León wishes for families to join this lighting ceremony in the La Plazuela area, where the Christmas parade will arrive in the city of Arrecife this Friday the 21st, starting at 7:00 PM
