The Island Sports Service presented this Wednesday the XXVIII edition of the “El Río” Swimming Crossing, a test that connects the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The vice president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, and the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, were in charge of presenting this test that will have participants from nine different countries.
“Lanzarote and La Graciosa are up and running, and this is being demonstrated by the multiple sports activities that take place every week in our territory,” said the vice president, who thanked the Island Sports Service “for guaranteeing the celebration of this crossing.”
The Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, explained that specifically “there are 460 registered in the adult category and 23 in minors.” “We are very happy with the participation this year, and we also have a British swimmer who is 77 years old,” he pointed out.
This Friday the 27th the bib numbers and the swimmer's bag will be delivered at the Lanzarote Sports City, between 11:00 and 14:00. In addition, on the same day, the delivery will take place at the Caleta de Sebo pier, in La Graciosa, between 17:00 and 20:30.
Swimmers can also collect their bib numbers before starting the test on Saturday morning in La Graciosa, between 08:00 and 10:00, time in which the warm-up will begin before the start of the test.
“We hope that the weather will allow us to enjoy one of the most exciting days of swimming in our islands, and I invite the population of the eighth island to enjoy it,” concluded Monzón.
