The Lanzarote International Film Festival and the Animation Service of the Insular Hospital of Lanzarote, with the collaboration and sponsorship of the Social Welfare and Inclusion Area of the Cabildo, present the XVII Exhibition of Short Films for Seniors without hesitation, a project that is committed to the creativity, expression and integration of the elderly through cinema.

The initiative contemplates the realization of eight short films that, for the first time, will be filmed in residences and day centers of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Although it is aimed primarily at those who reside in these centers, it is also open to all seniors on both islands who wish to share their stories, talent and creativity. In addition, the project involves the staff of these spaces, promoting the exchange and connection between all participants. These short films will narrate stories, both real and fictional, collecting the experiences, memories and experiences of the elderly, as well as those who care for them and those who direct the audiovisual projects.

For the Minister of Social Welfare, Marci Acuña, "thanks to this consolidated project that has been on our island for 17 years, we vindicate the fundamental role of our elders in society. In Seniors without hesitation, cinema becomes a very powerful tool to rescue memories, strengthen active aging and self-esteem, as well as strengthen ties between generations, creating a cultural and human legacy for the future."

Premiere at the Lanzarote International Film Festival

All the short films will be screened within the framework of the 25th Lanzarote International Film Festival, which will be held between May 12 and 24 and is organized by Fisme Producciones with the sponsorship of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Government of the Canary Islands, Canary Island Films, the Canarian Institute of Cultural Development and the Society for the Promotion of Foreign Affairs of Lanzarote, through its product brand Lanzarote Film Commission.

Specifically, the Exhibition of Short Films for Seniors without hesitation will take place on May 14, consolidating itself as one of the longest-running and most successful events of the Lanzarote International Film Festival.
