The Section I of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try next week in Arrecife a man accused of raping a nine-year-old girl, the daughter of his partner, in Costa Teguise.

The events date back to the period between March of the year 2017 and December of 2021, when he sexually assaulted the minor on several occasions in the house where the victim, the alleged aggressor, and the girl's mother lived.

The Prosecutor's Office has classified these acts as a sexual offense against a minor under 16 years old, despite the fact that the Law of Only Yes is Yes of the year 2022 states that this type of sexual offenses are aggressions.

These sexual assaults, which occurred when the girl's mother was not at home, began when the minor was only nine years old and continued until she was fourteen. The accused allegedly touched the minor's intimate areas and went so far as to sexually assault her.

Due to these aggressions, the girl has suffered an acute anxious process with symptoms such as trembling in her legs, inability to relax, dizziness, tachycardia, or a feeling of physical insecurity, among others. In addition, she also suffers from a post-traumatic stress disorder and symptoms associated with a moderate depressive process.

For these acts, the Prosecutor's Office accuses him of a continued offense of sexual abuse of a minor under sixteen years of age and requests twelve years in prison for the accused, as well as special disqualification for the exercise of the right to passive suffrage during the sentence. It also requests the prohibition of approaching the victim, her home, her workplace, and any other place frequented by her at a distance of less than 500 meters for a period of 22 years. Likewise, the prohibition of communicating with her for the same period.

The Prosecutor's Office also requests for the accused the special disqualification for any profession or trade that involves regular and direct contact with minors for 17 years and supervised liberty for 10 years.

Lastly, it requests that the alleged aggressor compensate the minor, through her legal representative, with 50,000 euros for the moral damages caused to the girl.
