The trial against Raúl Díaz for the murder of Romina Celeste begins this Friday

The case that judges the husband of the Paraguayan woman, accused of murdering and dismembering his wife during New Year's Eve 2018, will take place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The trial of the Romina case begins this Friday, June 2, in the City of Justice of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The case will be judged in the Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas in different sessions between June 2 and 16.

This trial will be carried out with a Jury Tribunal. During the first hearing, scheduled for this Friday, said jury will be constituted, after the 36 candidates were drawn last April 10.

This case will be judged four years and six months after the accused Raúl Díaz allegedly ended the life of his wife during New Year's Eve 2018 in the house located in the tourist town of Costa Teguise.

The man accused of murdering and dismembering his wife remains on supervised release after serving four years in pre-trial detention in Tahíche awaiting trial, the maximum time stipulated by law.

The judicial case against the accused began on January 14, 2019, but the investigation was delayed in time. Raúl Díaz is charged with the crimes of habitual abuse, injury, murder, desecration of a corpse and simulation of a crime.

After leaving prison, Raúl Díaz has appeared every Monday in court. Among the preventive measures, he also had to designate a domicile in Spain and notify any changes of address, he is prohibited from leaving the national territory, his passport has been withdrawn and he is prohibited from issuing a new one.
