The Supreme Court rejects the appeal of the owners of the Islote del Francés and declares the land public

The High Court orders Inversiones Islote del Francés SL to pay the court costs and rejects the claims of the property, which sought compensation of 200 million euros

Islote del Francés

The First Section of the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the Supreme Court has rejected the appeal filed by the owners of the Islote del Francés, against the ruling of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands that ruled that these lands were for public use without the need to be expropriated, against the claim of the property.

The judicial ruling of the TSJC, of February 2024, put an end to a long judicial controversy, in which the company Inversiones Islote del Francés SL threatened to obtain compensation of 200 million euros if the Arrecife City Council maintained those lands as public.

Inversiones Islote del Francés SL appealed the TSJC ruling, after the Canarian court rejected the administrative litigation appeal filed against the Agreement of the Canary Islands Valuation Commission, which refused to set a fair price for the Islote del Francés.
