The Prosecutor's Office requests ten years for the accused of dealing cocaine in Arrecife

The case was paralyzed "without justified cause" for four years, with different periods of pause between August 2020 and August 2024

The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try next week in Lanzarote a defendant accused of selling almost half a gram of cocaine on a street in Arrecife in August 2019. The trial was scheduled for March of this year, but ultimately did not take place. 

The Prosecutor's Office places the events in the early morning of August 31, 2019 on Doctor Ramón y Cajal street, in the capital of Lanzarote. The Public Prosecutor's Office assures that I.B. allegedly sold 20 euros of cocaine to a person, with "a clear disregard for individual and collective health".

After analyzing the substance, it was concluded that it had a purity of 67.88% and a value of around 26.34. Following a police search, 47 euros were seized from him.

 

Four years paralyzed "without justified cause"

The Public Prosecutor's Office in its brief explains the case has been paralyzed "without justified cause" for four years, with different periods of pause between August 2020 and August 2024. 

The Ministry requests for I.B. a sentence of ten months in prison, under which the circumstance of mitigating factor for undue delays concurs, special disqualification to exercise the right to passive suffrage for the duration of the sentence and a fine of 20 euros, as well as the payment of court costs. The Prosecutor's Office requests the confiscation of the money and drugs seized.
