The Prosecutor's Office investigates a complaint from CC for Sosa's allowances during the Government of Dolores Corujo

The former president of the Lanzarote Island Council and current deputy in the Congress of Deputies, Dolores Corujo (PSOE), has been summoned to testify on Wednesday morning as a witness following a complaint filed by David Monte (Coalición Canaria), insular director of Presidency of the Lanzarote Island Council, before the Public Prosecutor's Office.

After hearing the testimony of David Monte and the documentation provided by him, the prosecutor for Crimes against Public Administration of Arrecife, Fernando Rodríguez Navarro, has decided to suspend Dolores Corujo's testimony and change her status from witness to suspect so that she may be assisted by a lawyer during her statement.

Sources from the Public Prosecutor's Office have explained to *La Voz* that the investigation is still in a "pre-procedural" phase and that it is premature to speak of "imputation" or "investigation." For now, the proceedings opened in the Prosecutor's Office aim to clarify whether or not there are indications of a crime, and in order not to "infringe" the former president's rights, it has been decided that she will testify as a suspect, assisted by a lawyer.

Following this complaint, the Prosecutor's Office is processing pre-procedural investigation proceedings, which means that no court procedure has yet been opened, but rather it is the Public Prosecutor's Office that is conducting the relevant inquiries.

The allegedly criminal acts that the representative of the Lanzarote Island Council has brought to the attention of the Prosecutor's Office for investigation are related to decisions made during Dolores Corujo's government regarding councilor Juan Manuel Sosa. David Monte points out that it could be a case of alleged malfeasance.

For her part, Dolores Corujo has stated that this investigation is a "malicious use of the Prosecutor's Office by Coalición Canaria."
