The knife found in the defendants' car is compatible with the murder weapon

The forensic doctors stated this Tuesday in the Las Palmas Court that the knife found in the car in which the two defendants fled after stabbing Juan V.G. to death at his home in Arrecife (Lanzarote) on the night of March 1, 2022 is compatible with the one that was used to end his life.

The three forensic doctors who have testified before the Jury in the second session of the trial against the defendants Rubén H.M. and Souffian D. have explained that the fatal wound that pierced his lung and reached his heart was made with a smooth-bladed knife like the one the Police found on the left side of the vehicle in which they fled.

Likewise, these experts have pointed out that this wound, 13.5 centimeters deep, required a "considerable intensity" to reach the victim's heart.

The Public Prosecutor's Office is asking for 17 years in prison for the two defendants for manslaughter, damages and threats, since, according to them, that night they broke down the door of the house to enter the house and also threatened the brother with whom Juan V.G. lived.

The experts have also pointed out that the two defendants were of sound mind when the events occurred, based on the interviews they conducted, and have said that it has not been possible to prove that either of them had consumed drugs that day and what quantity in the event that they had done so.

Regarding the victim, they have detailed that he did not show signs of defense and that the blood analysis showed that he was a regular drug user.

In this session, the head of the Arrecife Judicial Police brigade, who prepared the police report, also testified and explained how the arrest of the defendants and a third person, who was initially thought to be involved, took place, after taking a statement from the brother who lived with the victim and the witnesses, most of whom were neighbors.

According to what was stated by the investigating officer and the police officers who testified before the court, the arrest of Rubén H.M. was carried out after he threatened to kill one of the witnesses, when he was at the police station, and had summoned him to the vicinity of the Valterra church, in Arrecife.

The agents who arrested him indicated that he was quite "aggressive and would not listen to reason."

"Where is that faggot? or something like that," said the arrested man, according to one of the police officers, who also pointed out that he was carrying a large machete and a fixed-blade knife, like the one used to kill octopuses, which he placed on the ground after being shown a weapon.

The head of the Arrecife Judicial Police brigade, when asked if the house in which the victim lived was a drug sales point, stated that it was a smoking den, the "typical place where marginal people gather" to consume drugs.

Likewise, another police officer who acted as an expert and who carried out the ocular inspection of the house where the events occurred, explained to the court that the street door was "destroyed and it was noticeable that it had been forced".

The trial will continue this Wednesday with the testimony of a witness who is being located, and the rest of the experts who appear in the case, as well as the interrogation of the two defendants.
