The six defendants for the landing of more than 600 kilos of hashish in Playa Quemada in 2014 have acknowledged the facts this Monday before the Provincial Court of Las Palmas, after reaching an agreement with the Prosecutor's Office.
The trial has not been held and the sentence will be handed down directly, with the penalties accepted by each one, ranging from one year and three months in prison to a maximum of two years in prison.
In addition, all must jointly pay a fine of 990,000 euros. In case of non-payment, it will be replaced by another three months in prison.
Initially, the Prosecutor's Office requested penalties of between six years and six years and nine months in prison, which have been reduced to less than a third after reaching this agreement. Regarding the fine, the provisional qualification document requested that each one pay 2,978,601 euros, which has also been considerably reduced.
An amount of drugs valued at almost one million euros
The events occurred at about 11 p.m. on October 25, 2014, when D.G.M. and I.G.M. arrived on the island by boat with the drugs. In total, 21 bundles were seized with a total weight of 633.61 kilograms, which according to the Prosecutor's Office "would have reached a value of 992,867 euros in the illicit market."
In Playa Quemada, they were awaited by two other defendants, P.M.M. and J.J.C.C. who "carried out the work of carrying the bundles of hashish", as well as the defendant S.E.I., on board the vehicle that they were going to use for transport. According to the Civil Guard at the time, these last three were arrested on the beach, while the occupants of the boat were arrested at the Marina Rubicón port, where they went after unloading the drugs.
The trial was going to be held in March but it was suspended, since one of the defendants requested that the indictment be corrected, alleging that he was attributed a criminal record that he did not have. Finally, a new date was set for this Monday, June 7, although the hearing has not been held.
