The former PP deputy for the island of Lanzarote, Sigfrid Soria, has filed a complaint this Tuesday with the Prosecutor's Office against the president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, and against the president of the Parliament of Catalonia, Carme Forcadell, considering that they are putting in "serious danger" the national sovereignty of Spain and, therefore, affecting their "territorial interests as a Spaniard"
"I believe that I am being seriously damaged, harmed, in a territorial right over Spain, which is called national sovereignty. There is a group of criminals, the independence leaders in Catalonia, who are carrying out a coup d'état. For me it is unacceptable that there are people who have degraded Catalonia to the category of banana republic. There everyone is breaking the law from an institutional point of view and I find it unacceptable. Unacceptable that they consider the possibility of a unilateral declaration of independence. It is a lack of respect for all Spaniards and with this action I urge the Prosecutor's Office to take certain measures," said Sigfrid Soria upon leaving the Arrecife Courts.
Specifically, according to the complaint to which La Voz has had access, Sigfrid Soria believes that Puigdemont and Forcadell have incurred in "treason, disobedience, prevarication, embezzlement, sedition, rebellion, slander, insult and outrage against Spain." "I ask that the Prosecutor's Office admit the complaint and qualify the crimes that I humbly appreciate," said the former PP deputy, who considers that, as a consequence of the actions of the independence leaders, "Catalonia and Spain are suffering enormous economic damage and a very negative impact on their image."
"While it is true that the fundamental right to honor is an indeterminate legal concept, it is no less true that Spain's honor is being seriously harmed by the decisions of both presidents. And if the honor of Spain is being undermined, so is mine as a Spaniard", argues Sigfrid Soria.
The former PP deputy asks the Prosecutor's Office that, "if it qualifies a crime that entails pre-trial detention and given the seriousness and urgency of the situation in Spain, it proposes immediate detention and making both presidents available to the courts." He also requests "damages as a Spaniard violated in one of his fundamental rights such as the right to honor."
It should be remembered that Sigfrid Soria starred in a resounding controversy in 2013, which led the PP to remove him from his organic responsibilities of the National Board of Directors of the party, after he threatened on Twitter to give "a slap" to the "perroflauta" who made a escrache to him, in relation to the actions that the anti-eviction movements then carried out at the doors of the houses of PP politicians and party headquarters.
