Real Madrid footballer Raúl Asencio convicted in the Canary Islands for drunk driving

This sentence is known just 24 hours before the defender appears before the judge in the trial for the case of the sexual video that three former footballers allegedly recorded in 2023 and that was shared by Asencio.

A judge in Gran Canaria has ordered Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio to pay a fine of 14,400 euros and to be unable to drive for eight months after being caught at the wheel under the influence of alcohol, as reported this Wednesday by the newspaper 'Atlántico Hoy'.

Sources close to the player have confirmed to EFE that Asencio admitted the facts in a fast-track trial held on August 19 in Courtroom number 3 of the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, accepted the sentence requested by the Prosecutor's Office, and expressed his remorse.

This sentence comes just 24 hours before the defender is due to appear before the judge of Criminal Court number 5 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the trial for the sexual video case, which three former teammates from Real Madrid's youth academy – Ferrán Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García – allegedly recorded in 2023 in the south of the island.

The defender expects to be acquitted at that same hearing once the two young women formally confirm that they forgive him for showing those images to another person when he received them on his mobile, after having apologized to them privately and compensated them.
