The National Police has arrested in the Tenerife municipality of Arona a lifeguard who in 2022 had been convicted of four crimes of sexual abuse of minors under 16 years, and who now worked in a municipal swimming pool where swimming courses and summer camps for minors are held.

The National Police reported this Friday in a statement that the sentence, which disqualifies him from any profession or trade that involves regular and direct contact with minors, is pending compliance.

Despite this, the man worked as a lifeguard and, thanks to the efforts made by the agents, it was found that the investigated had validated internships in educational centers and accessed environments of special sensitivity for children by presenting a modified criminal record certificate

He also presented documentation in which he justified having carried out internships in a sports center, which had been manipulated, since he never got to do them.

At the time of his location he was performing functions as a lifeguard, being arrested and placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.

The rapid action of the agents of the National Police was decisive, ensuring that the presence of this individual in the pool did not remain in time and thus protecting all the minors who come to these facilities, especially at this time of year where their influx is much greater due to the training and recreational events held in the place.
